How We Started

Established in 1851, the Wooster Brush Company is one of the first paint applicator manufacturers in the U.S. Adam Foss founded the business. He moved from Pennsylvania to Ohio and began the company. In the early days, he began making handmade bristle paintbrushes. Original operations were started in a two-story building situated in Wooster, Ohio. Next, the paint brushes were sold all around the state by door-to-door operations.

The company established a modern factory on Madison Avenue in 1909. The building was 70-feet in width by 200-feet in length. This facility provided them three times more space than previously. Nowadays, the Madison Avenue building is the Wooster, Ohio home office.

The business has just elected 9 presidents since Adam began it. In August 2010, William S. Fagert took over as president. He's been with The Wooster Brush Company since 1985.

Many market milestones have been achieved with the business during its 165 years of performance.

They formulated the Shasta® style paint brush and also the angled sash paint brush.

The business was the first to expose the now industry standard of fabricated fabrics for paint roller covers.

The “Foss-set” process was developed to cement the bristles into the paint brushes.

The Exploded-Tip® was created to generate soft flags along the ends of the filaments.

They were the initial company to introduce nylon filaments for latex paints and significantly improved paint delivery.

This is why The Wooster Brush Company has expanded to become the most revolutionary developer of brush applicators in the business. Many of the best decorating equipment in the business is made by Wooster Brush. On a yearly basis, the business showcases new product designs. The Wooster Brush Company creates more goods than any other high-quality paint applicator manufacturer. “Made in America,” this business has passed on its methods over many generations.

WHAT MAKES A GREAT BRUSH?

Materials

Incorporating robust ferrules, comfortable handles, synthetic filaments, the very best bristles from China and durable blends is why these paint brushes are leaders all round. The Wooster Brush Company exclusively relies on the most beneficial items from around the world to generate their products. In the event that they can’t discover what they are looking for, they have manufactured their own materials.

Tipping

The key portion of the paint brush is the working end. Performance directly correlates to how the finish, tip, or filament is manufactured. We highly protect our proprietary tip strategies, as does every paintbrush company, since the tipping is a huge part of what makes each and every brand unique.

Taper

Check out the brush edgewise. If the tapers reach a point, you will get more paint control. For better coverage, tapered filament brushes enable the paint to flow. “Pumping the paint,” onto the surface enables much easier “cutting-in,” techniques. Level filament paint brushes or un-tapered filament brushes generally cost less; however, they significantly sacrifice capacity, management and coverage.
